A recruitment drive has started ahead of Carlisle Lake District airport beginning commercial and business flights for the first time in 25 years from June 4.
Vacancies include air traffic controller roles and a security manager position.
The airport, which was been owned by Stobart Group since 2009, is also looking for a catering assistant and rescue and firefighting service officers.
The company, which also owns Southend airport and regional carrier Stobart Air, plans to resume commercial flights from Carlisle for the first time since 1993.
The airport had attracted almost £5 million in funding to improve the runway and terminal.
Stobart Group head of corporate projects Kate Willard said: “We are delighted to be starting recruitment for Carlisle Lake District airport ahead of our summer launch.
“We have already received great support from the Local Enterprise Partnership, Cumbrian communities and further afield.
“We knew that our developments would generate some great jobs and it is really exciting now to be starting recruitment to bring these new people on board.
“The airport is committed to playing its role in the sustainable growth of the Cumbria economy and delivering these new jobs is a fantastic and tangible start to this.”
Graham Haywood, director of Cumbria LEP, added: “Carlisle Lake District airport will have a huge impact on Cumbria’s visitor economy and is also a key strategic business asset for the county.
“Cumbria LEP is investing £4.95 million to help make improvements to the airport’s runway and the terminal.
Increasing the numbers of high spending international visitors is a key target within Cumbria LEP’s rural and visitor economy growth plan and will help widen the county’s international connectivity.
“Developing the airport’s passenger offer will provide smoother, quicker access to local tourism attractions and help to increase international tourism visits.
“As well as growing visitor numbers and supporting tourism businesses, development of the airport will open up more commercial industry opportunities, especially in key sectors such as logistics, nuclear and advanced manufacturing.
“Improving key transport infrastructure facilities like the airport helps boost economic growth and can act as a catalyst for creating new business hubs and attracting private sector investment.”
