Wizz Air January carryings up 24% year-on-year

Wizz Air started the year with carryings up by almost a quarter to 2.3 million passengers.

The central and eastern European low-fares carrier reported a 24.4% rise in passenger number in January over the same month in 2017.

This came as the airline continued to expand its network and resulted in a marginal decline in its load factor by 0.3 percentage points to 87.7% for the month.

January’s figures gave the airline a 24.2% increase in rolling annual passenger numbers to 28.7 million.

The airline announced last month that Vienna was being added to its network as its 145th airport with 17 new routes to 15 countries from June.
