Virgin Atlantic expands Flybe codeshare deal

Virgin Atlantic is expanding a codeshare pact with Flybe to improve access to long-haul routes for travellers from Scotland.

The latest addition to the partnership includes Flybe’s Manchester-Glasgow route.

This opens up Virgin Atlantic’s transatlantic routes to the US and Caribbean to passengers travelling from the Scottish city.

The enhanced partnership means passengers from Scotland will be able to connect between Flybe and Virgin Atlantic with one boarding pass and their bags checked through for the entire journey.

Virgin Atlantic is now offering tickets from Glasgow to San Francisco, Boston and Barbados via Manchester starting at £486, £383 and £538 respectively.

Chief commercial officer, Shai Weiss, said: “Last year was the biggest ever for our Scottish customers, as we ran our longest ever season of direct flights to Orlando. In 2018 we’re taking our Scottish travel offering one step further.

“Thanks to our extended partnership with Flybe, holidaymakers from Glasgow can now take advantage of our entire Manchester route network, meaning more flights to the USA and Caribbean than ever before. “

Flybe chief commercial officer Roy Kinnear added: “We are delighted that this latest extension of our valued codeshare partnership with Virgin will bring even more of the world closer to Scotland travellers.

“It gives both airlines increased network reach and reinforces our commitment to provide our customers with convenient seamless ‘One Stop to the World’ connections from their local airport.”

Virgin Atlantic announced last year that its Flybe partnership would also operate between Heathrow and Edinburgh and Aberdeen, allowing travellers access to the airline’s routes from the London hub.
