MSC Cruises names new ship with world-renowned star’s help

MSC Seaside has been officially named in a star-studded ceremony in Miami.

International screen legend and Godmother for all MSC Cruises’ ships, Sophia Loren was at hand to christen the vessel.

Celebrated superstars Ricky Martin and Andrea Bocelli joined a host of special guests, Miami authority figures, travel industry partners at the ceremony in PortMiami.

Piefrancesco Vago, MSC Cruises executive chairman, said: “MSC Seaside has been designed to spearhead the next phase of our growth in North America, a cornerstone of our global strategy.

“The [ship] will be one of three MSC Cruises ships to homeport in Miami.”

Miami football legend and Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino made a guest appearance at the event.

Earlier this year, MSC Cruises signed a partnership with the Miami, further strengthening the cruise line’s relationship with the South Florida community

On Saturday MSC Seaside – the line’s 14th ship – will begin seven-night eastern and western Caribbean itineraries.

Vago added: “We wish to express our commitment to giving something back to the places where we operate.”
