STA chief executive to step down after 12 years at youth travel company

STA Travel Group chief executive John Constable is to depart the youth travel company after more than a decade to “take up a new opportunity”.

Details of his new role are due to be announced in the new year.

Managing director, central Europe, Reinhard Kotzaurek, who leads the company’s activities in Austria, Switzerland and Germany, is to succeed Constable in the London-based position in January.

Constable said: “It is with many mixed emotions that after 12 incredible years with STA Travel I have decided to move on to a new and exciting opportunity that I will start in 2018.

“It’s been an amazing journey with so many achievements across the business, for which I owe enormous thanks to every one of our teams across the world.

“I wish Reinhard and everyone continued success, fun and adventure for the next part of the STA Travel journey.”

Kotzaurek added: “Under the leadership of John, STA Travel has become the world’s largest provider of travel for students and youth, and I am very grateful to continue this success story.

“I am convinced that together we will meet the requirements of our industry and climb new heights.”
