Barrhead Travel doubles the size of its regional sales management team

Barrhead Travel has doubled the size of its regional sales management team.

The additional RSMs come as the Scottish-headquartered agency chain set out further plans for more stores in England next year and prepares to open its first shop in Northern Ireland.

The new RSMs have been promoted from within the business, both progressing from a branch manager role. Angela Gemmell has been with the business since 2010 and has progressed from a travel consultant position through to store manager.

Leanne Jack was manager at the Edinburgh Gyle store since 2010 and has 18 years’ experience in travel.

Angela and Leanne will join Lorraine Cree and Gail Wands, to make up the four-strong RSM team, which will oversee the growth of Barrhead Travel’s specialist teams.

Linda Armit, Barrhead Travel head of sales, said: “I am thrilled to welcome Angela and Leanne to the RSM team. It became apparent earlier in the year that the additional RSM support was necessary as we continued to grow. Feedback from our branch managers indicated that the time spent with their RSMs was invaluable and enjoyed the training and development opportunities that RSM store visits brought.

“We are passionate about developing our own people and so the position was advertised internally. Doubling our team means that the RSMs can provide even more value to the sales teams on a daily basis, not only increasing support in sales and performance, but also compliance, staff development and training.”

Chief Executive Sharon Munro, said: “We are delighted to be promoting Angela and Leanne who have both been with Barrhead Travel for many years. The growth of this management level has been developed in line with our business expansion plans for 2018.”

Many senior and mid-level managers at Barrhead Travel have worked their way up through the business, which has a programme of training, development and support.
