Jet2.com customer gets VIP treatment as only passenger on flight

A lucky Jet2.com customer certainly got her money’s worth when she was the only passenger on an outbound service to Crete, a flight she paid just £46 for.

Author Karon Grieve from Ayrshire had been expected to fly to the Greek island from Glasgow with just two other customers but they failed to show up.

So she was given a VIP private jet treatment during the flight, getting a running commentary from the pilot who addressed her by name over the intercom.

When she landed in Crete she was even able to collect her luggage straight from the aircraft hold and avoid queues in baggage collection.

Grieve told The Sun newspaper: “They moved me to seat number one so I had all the leg room and everything, it was fantastic.

“The pilot then came out and chatted to me before take off and throughout the flight was documenting what we were doing and where we were going.

“She would come over the tannoy saying “Hi Karon and the girls” telling us when to look out the window and what to look out for.

“At one point there was this incredible lightning storm so the pilot had us all watching that which was just fantastic.

“The crew were wandering around and said just to call if I needed anything. I even got a free meal which was great.

“They said I could run up and down the plane if I wanted, I had all the space to myself. It was so peaceful and I got a lot of work done.”

A Jet2.com spokesperson said: “This was our last flight to Crete from Glasgow Airport this year, marking the end of a very busy and successful season.

“We’re delighted that Karon got to experience our VIP customer service in style onboard our award-winning airline.

“It is not unusual for the final outbound flight of the season to have fewer bookings than normal, and the return flight back to Glasgow was completely full of customers returning from a lovely holiday.

“We hope Karon has a fantastic time in Crete and that we got her holiday off to a great start.”
