Tui offers exclusivity in Lapland as part of winter 2018 programme

Tui is to offer the Finnish Lapland region of Kuusama exclusively out of the UK for winter 2018.

The winter 2018 programme for Tui and First Choice goes on sale this week and also includes extra capacity in resorts in Egypt, Marrakech and in Cape Verde.

Tui, which last week officially rebranded from Thomson, will feature eight hotels in Kuusama, which is known for its ski slopes and hiking trails.

Accommodation ranges from log cabins to family friendly hotels with indoor activity play areas.

Three and four night breaks will be offered, with flights out of Manchester and Gatwick.

Tui director of product Mark Hall said: “Lapland is a key winter destination for us and we have seen growth year on year with more and more customers wanting ice and snow versus sun and sand.

“Our Santa day trips and short breaks remain massively popular and an important part of our Lapland portfolio but Christmas is only part of the story.

“The Lapland landscape lends itself to exploration and action and customers will find that aplenty in Kuusamo.”

The new destination goes on sale on October 26 along with a raft of other additions for winter 2018 including a new Tui and First Choice hotel, the RIU Palace Hotel in Boa Vista, Cape Verde. More 10 and 11 night stays are offered, with flights out of Birmingham and Gatwick to Boa Vista, and from Manchester to Sal. Bristol Airport will operate a new weekly flight to Boa Vista.

Tui and First Choice are also increasing capacity in Marsa Alam, Hurghada and Marrakech for 2018.

Two extra flights will go from Cardiff and Doncaster Sheffield to Hurghada and an extra weekly flight will depart from London Gatwick to Marsa Alam. Flights from Bristol Airport have also be extended to cover the full season rather than just March and April and an additional flight will operate to Marrakesh from Bristol.

Meanwhile, Tui’s multi-centre programme is being extended with St Lucia, Florida and Morocco holidays being made available in the winter season and triple-centre stays introduced in Thailand.

Hall said: “We are focusing on giving our customers more flexibility and the ability to customise their holidays to suit their individual needs. One size does not fit all when it comes to holidays.   Some customers want a 14 night break, whilst others find ten nights suits them better.   Some want to fly midweek, some at weekends.

“We’ve opened up capacity in the destinations most in demand, creating more room availability with exclusive new hotels as well as opening up new flight routes where we’ve needed to.”
