EasyJet to operate from Southampton for first time

EasyJet is to fly from Southampton airport for the first time this winter.

The budget carrier is opening a ski route to Geneva on December 14.

Flights will run up to three times a week until the end of March on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays with fares starting at £31.99 one-way.

EasyJet hopes to carry more than 10,000 passengers in the first winter from Southampton using an Airbus A320.

Southampton will become the 139th airport on the carrier’s network.

The airline’s UK country manager Ali Gayward said: ‘We are delighted to be announcing that we will commence flights from Southampton – a new airport on easyJet’s already comprehensive route network.

“Many people are already starting to plan ahead for their winter holidays and with flights to Geneva from Southampton, passengers from across the region are able to take advantage of our low fares.”

Airport managing director Dave Lees added: “We are very excited to announce that easyJet will be commencing operations to Geneva three times a week from Southampton airport this winter.

“I am sure that our customers from across the region will be pleased to have even more choice for reaching the ski slopes from December onwards. We look forward to welcoming easyJet to Southampton later in the year.”
