Wendy Wu and Flight Centre agree preferred partner deal

Wendy Wu Tours and Flight Centre Travel Group have entered into a UK preferred partnership agreement to boost sales of holidays to China.

The agreement will create “significant mutual opportunities” for both companies to develop and grow their revenue across the UK.

The tie-in gives Flight Centre access to all of the operator’s China holidays, including escorted all-inclusive group and specialist tours.

They will be sold across the agency chain’s network of more than 87 stores, packaged and branded under the Flight Centre name.

Wendy Wu Tours group chief executive Joe Karbo said: “We have been a preferred partner with Flight Centre Australia and New Zealand for over 10 years and have worked closely in these markets to build a really successful partnership.

“The opportunity to partner with Flight Centre UK is really exciting as we can see growth within the partnership developing as we will now be providing China product to all of their retail stores.”

The Asia specialist operator’s global sales director John Warr added: “We will be working very closely with Flight Centre to ensure total alignment across both businesses giving us the ability to react intuitively to the product needs of Flight Centre’s travel network.

“We believe that moving to a commercial agreement gives us an opportunity to work more effectively at every level and bring the best of specialist China travel to Flight Centre.”

Flight Centre Travel Group head of leisure land product Liz Cairns said: “Wendy Wu Tours have established a formidable reputation as the leaders in travel to China and so when it came to partnering with a like-minded industry leader, Wendy Wu made perfect sense.

“Wendy Wu Tours brings a unique and innovative travel proposition to our key markets, is the ideal partner for us and absolutely crucial to increasing our presence in China.”
