India boost for Cosmos ahead of new Joanna Lumley TV documentary

Cosmos is claiming a doubling in bookings to India in a year ahead of a new Joanna Lumley TV travel documentary on the subcontinent which starts today.

The demand for India has made the country the fastest growing long-haul holiday choice for the operator’s customers.

The first of the three-part series, which sees the Ab-Fab star return to explore the country of her birth, is screened at 9pm tonight on ITV.

Cosmos head of product and commercial, Rob Goodwin, said:  “Strong public awareness of the colour, culture and incredible wildlife of India from TV programmes like Joanna Lumley’s India has had a significant effect on bookings, as customers want to experience this amazing continent themselves. And, there appears to be no sign yet of interest waning.

“A private tour to see the most iconic sights and wildlife of India is proving a popular option for our customers.

“Setting your own pace and having your own guide/driver with air-conditioned vehicle to take you to the most incredible places like the Taj Mahal or the Amber Fort at Jaipur is a real ‘once in a lifetime’ adventure.”

A ten-day Golden Triangle package leads in at £1,366 per person including a visit to the Ranthambore National Park for three game drives to see tigers.
