Emerald Waterways christens Radiance with Cruise Village godmother

Emerald Waterways’ newest ship Emerald Radiance has been christened in Porto, Portugal by its agent godmother, Gill Williams.

The cruise specialist from Cruise Village in Blackpool, was selected as the ship’s godmother in April due to being one of the line’s top performing agents.

Gill Williams said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been selected as the godmother to Emerald Radiance.

“It’s a huge honour as I’ve loved Emerald Waterways since my first ever trip on-board the Emerald Star, and to be an official ambassador and godmother to such a great ship is a privilege.”

Gill was also named as Leisure Agent of the Year at Travel Weekly’s Agent Achievement Awards in 2016.

Dawn Quinn, acting national sales manager for the brand, said: “We have worked with Gill for a long time and are really excited that she has been selected as godmother to Emerald Radiance.

“Gill is truly passionate about Emerald Waterways, which makes her the perfect choice to be an official ambassador for the brand.”

Emerald Radiance will sail itineraries along the Douro River in Portugal.

David Winterton, global brand curator for Emerald Waterways, said: “We’re delighted to have Gill as the godmother to the 7th Star-Ship in our rapidly growing fleet, and with Emerald Radiance fully booked for the entire year, we look forward to welcoming our guests to such a beautiful part of Portugal.

“While the Emerald Radiance has been custom-built to sail the Douro, it still offers our guests modern luxury at an affordable price, and includes many of our trademark Emerald Waterways innovations.”
