Robinson Club eyes indie agents to power UK sales

Robinson Club’s UK regional sales manager wants to engage with third-party agents as the German operator outlines plans to expand in the UK market.

George Morris is planning to visit indie agents across the UK to train them on Robinson Club product. He has his own Facebook page and YouTube channel: Robinson George.

The Tui Group-owned resort operator promotes healthy, active holidays in exclusive properties where guests are encouraged to interact with each other.

Eight German Robinson Clubs were adapted to become ‘international’ last year and this will rise to 15, including its new resorts – Khao Lak, in Thailand, and Noonu, in the Maldives – which both open in November with image-led signs and English-speaking staff.

Morris said: “My next step is to meet third-party agents who can sell Thomson and get the brand more known. They probably see Robinson as just a Tui product, but it’s very much standalone. If they haven’t got a contact to tell them more about the clubs, then they can get in touch with me through their existing Tui contact or direct.”

Morris, who has worked for Tui for 16 years as a rep, a retail store manager and for Thomson Airways, has already been on the road training Thomson store agents.

Robinson is also planning fam trips to help agents, who will be picked based on sales, understand the philosophy behind the brand.

Managing director Bernd Mäser said: “It’s quite tough to sell a German product to the UK market, but we think they will like Robinson.”
