Travel Network Group campaign targets families and independent travellers

Families and independent travellers are being targeted in dual marketing campaigns by the Travel Network Group.

The ‘Time of your life’ and ‘It’s here’ promotions will run until July.

More than 300 members have opted to use special marketing content in their stores, social media channels and websites.

‘Time of your life’ uses emotive imagery plus a video which can be used by members across their social media channels, reflecting the fun that can be had on a family holiday.

The ‘It’s Here’ campaign aims to appeal to more independent travellers, focusing on adventure in long-haul destinations.

Group marketing director, Si Morris-Green, said: “We all know the importance of a family holiday and that in so many ways experiences are better than gifts, and this has been well documented recently by psychologist and best-selling author Oliver James.

“In a study, published earlier this year, he explains that family holidays are valued by children, both in the moment and for a long time afterwards in their memory.

“His research says it’s all about sharing ice creams as a family and moments of time when your interests are genuinely taken into account. So if you are spending money on something, it’s pretty clear that the holiday option makes more sense, says the study.

“The study goes on to say that research repeatedly indicates that despite the fact that we all go on buying stuff, adults really regard experiences like travel as far more fulfilling, and children are no different.

“The study doesn’t tell us anything we don’t already know as an industry, but as a group, we feel it’s important to constantly communicate the allure of a family holiday, especially at a time when our national news is full of stories on Brexit and now the general election.”
