Teenager killed in shark attack in Western Australia

A teenage girl has died in a shark attack off the coast of Western Australia.

The 17-year-old was taken to hospital but died from her injuries, sustained while her family were at the beach in the town of Esperance – an area known for sightings of Great White sharks.

Australian media reported that the girl lost a leg in the attack and named her as Laeticia Brouwer. Reports say her father tried to rescue her from the sea.

The family were reportedly on an Easter holiday at the time, with the girl’s mother and sisters on the beach at the time.
