Jet2 adds Scottish routes for ‘biggest summer programme yet’

Scottish expansion has been signalled by Jet2.com and Jet2holidays with more flights and destinations on offer from Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports for summer 2018.

Seven new routes are being introduced with more than 1.5 million seats going on sale.

The operator will serve 32 destinations from Edinburgh next summer with the addition of Antalya, Kos, Dalaman and Madeira providing 50,000 extra seats.

Capacity from Glasgow rises by 25,000 as the network grows to 29 summer destinations with the addition of Bodrum, Kefalonia and Halkidiki.

Extra flights will run from Edinburgh to Costa de Almeria, Paphos, Larnaca, Verona and Naples. Glasgow will see more flights to Larnaca, Rhodes and Antalya.

The increased commitment will result in the company operating more than 320 weekly flights from Scotland in the summer peak next year.

An additional new Boeing 737-800 will be based at Edinburgh airport to handle the expansion.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief executive, Steve Heapy, said: “This will be our biggest summer programme yet from our bases at Glasgow and Edinburgh airports, with more seats and hotels than ever through our airline and holiday operator.

“Such sustained growth is only possible by looking after our customers, which shows that our continued investment into offering great value package holidays and family friendly flights is working.

“Our continued success in Glasgow and Edinburgh proves that our formula is the right one.”
