Barrhead Travel to create 120 jobs amid ongoing expansion

As many as 120 new jobs across the UK are being created by Barrhead Travel this year as part of ongoing expansion plans.

The Glasgow-based agency group has started a recruitment drive across Scotland and the north of England.

The firm is looking to fill roles in a number of areas, including sales and marketing, web development and management.

A “significant number” of modern apprentice roles are also on offer, and there are opportunities across the group’s homeworking and franchise divisions.

Posts are available in stores across Glasgow, East Kilbride, Edinburgh, Newcastle, and at Barrhead’s specialist cruise call centre in Larbert. Homeworking opportunities are available UK-wide.

Experienced travel and sales experts are needed for destination specialist roles. The company also wants to take on product executives, managers and team leaders. Marketing, web design and business development roles are also being created.

The modern apprentice opportunities cover a range of areas including sales, business development, social media, marketing, HR, IT and training.

All staff receive a personal development plan, complemented by continued training and support. Incentives include worldwide educational trips and discounts, alongside competitive salaries and uncapped commission for sales staff.

Chief executive, Sharon Munro, said: “Recruiting more than 100 people over the next 12 months will strengthen and develop our teams across the UK in response to our growing customer base.

“We want to find the best people out there to help us continue to deliver an unrivalled travel experience to our customers.

“Our people are at the heart of our business and we are passionate about developing each and every member of staff. I started with the company as a modern apprentice and I’m very proud to have progressed through the business to the role of chief executive.

“We have created roles which will be a perfect match for people from all whole range of educational and vocational backgrounds, who want to continue to provide a high level of customer service.

“There are fantastic opportunities for progression within the company, and we also give members of staff the chance to experience different areas of the business.”

She added: “Our head office in the heart of Glasgow city centre provides fantastic opportunities for career progression across areas including marketing, business development, IT, web design, HR and digital marketing.

“As a progressive and forward-thinking company, we embrace innovations in new technology, and we’re continually thinking about the implementation of new developments across our business.”
