Thomas Cook expands Greece programme after demand rises 40%

Thomas Cook is expanding its portfolio in Greece for summer 2018 after reporting a 40% group-wide rise in demand.

The operator is starting a programme to the Greek mainland destination of Paralia – dubbed the ‘Olympus Riviera” – served by flights to Thessaloniki from Manchester and Birmingham.

A new beachfront SENTIDO Mediterranean Village Hotel & Spa will open with views of Mount Olympus.

Other new European destinations for next summer are Golden Sands in Bulgaria, the Costa Brava and Madeira.

A total of seven new own-brand hotels will be on offer and 17 new flight routes on Thomas Cook airlines, with bookings opening tomorrow (Thursday).

The new routes cover existing destinations and to new ones, including Varna, Funchal and Gerona.

Thomas Cook Airlines airline is also rasing frequency on existing routes from a number of regional airports including Newcastle and Belfast.

Thomas Cook UK managing director, Chris Mottershead, said: “Our new destinations for summer 2018 offer a good mix of holiday types.

“We’re expecting a revitalisation in the traditional package holiday destination of Costa Brava and we’ve worked hard to secure some of the best quality hotels for our customers.

“Madeira on the other hand is perfect for those looking for something other than all-inclusive. Perhaps once seen as a destination just for older travellers, we think its array of local dining options and natural beauty will bring it higher up the wish-list for many customers next summer.

“Plus, with Greece being so popular this summer, the addition of the stunning Olympus Riviera means there will be even more options.

“We know that customers want to be able to fly from their local airports so we’re also adding new flight routes to a number of regional airports, as well as increasing the frequency of existing ones.”
