GTMC appoints Norad Travel Group boss Mick Gibbs to board

Norad Travel Group boss Mick Gibbs has been appointed to the executive board of the Guild of Travel Management Companies for three years.

Gibbs wants to help the guild to energise the scope and long-term health of business travel, and has also taken on the chair of the GTMC technology sub-committee, in addition to his new board duties.

Guild chief executive Paul Wait said: “For the GTMC to flourish and confidently address the issues the industry faces, now and in future, it is important to have an executive board that is not just passionate about the industry but has a complementary range of skills and experience that the business travel industry in totality cannot ignore.

“Mick brings a down-to-earth approach to business with a transformational strategic outlook, and more importantly a growth mind-set that is crucial today.”

Gibbs, chairman and chief executive of Norad Travel Group, added: “I’m delighted to be taking on this significant responsibility on behalf of the wider travel management community in the UK, particularly in today’s fluid international trading environment.

“The GTMC is the voice of business travel, and I believe that my own positive and progressive voice will help raise further the volume and substance of our message to UK business plc, government and the travel industry alike going forward.”

Gibbs also chairs the Focus Group of travel management specialists within the Advantage consortium.
