Hays Travel buys Yorkshire agency Holiday Travel

Hays Travel has bought Holiday Travel in Bridlington for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition brings the number of Hays shops to 147, including 80 in the north of England.

A further 12 shops are likely to be acquired by Hays Travel this year, with sites already identified nationwide.

The newly-acquired Yorkshire agency , part of the Advantage Travel Partnership and set up in 1974, will be rebranded as Hays Travel next month. All 11 staff will join Hays, including its two owners, both company directors. The agency sells mainly package holidays and cruises.

Jane Schumm, retail and training director, Hays Travel, said: “We are very excited, this shop is a great fit for us. We will start training the staff on our systems and product as early as next week.”

She confirmed Hays Travel continued to be on the acquisition trail, particularly in the Leeds area and on the south coast.

“We are still on the look-out, we have earmarked 12 for this year and couple are already in the pipeline,” she added.
