One dead and two missing after avalanche in French Alps

A snowboarder was killed and two skiers are missing after being caught in an avalanche in the French Alps.

Rescuers working overnight pulled the body of the Dutch national from the snow at the resort of Valfrejus in France’s Savoy region.

Two other Dutch people who were also snowboarding at the time are still missing and feared buried under the snow.

The incident happened hours after an avalanche crashed through a piste in the resort of Tignes, in France yesterday.

Tourists escaped major injury in the earlier avalanche despite initial reports that several people had been swept away.

The snowboarder’s body was found hours after the avalanche struck on Tuesday afternoon on an off-piste sector near the resort, close to the Italian border, MailOnline reported.
