Carrier reports 9% January bookings boost

Luxury operator Carrier has claimed a 9% rise in January peak booking period bookings.

The uplift gave the company one of its best ever booking months following a strong 2016.

The Caribbean, Europe and Africa have emerged as the top-performing destinations.

Barbados saw a sales rise by almost 30% while The Maldives was the operator’s second best-selling destination with a 26% year-on-year increase.

Spain, Greece and Italy remain the most popular countries in Europe while Croatia and Montenegro have recorded annual growth of 80%.

Favourable exchange rates helped push bookings to Africa up by 20% last year, with South Africa recording a 15% year-on-year increase.

Growth was also recorded to Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, Florida, California and Canada.

Managing director Steve Kimber said: “We’re delighted with the strong early season booking performance Carrier has achieved.

“Although it’s been a year of change and uncertainty with the likes of Brexit and the ‘Trump Effect’, travellers are able to seek the support, protection and convenience of packages with tour operators like Carrier and, with the volume of enquiries we can see coming in daily, we have every indication of further success ahead.”
