Ugandan Tourism Board plonks Gorilla in Trafalgar Square

An animatronic gorilla has been entertaining crowds in London’s Trafalgar Square this morning, courtesy of the Ugandan Tourism Board.

The stunt drew the attention of passers by, some of whom were able to pose for pictures with the mountain gorilla – one of Uganda’s main tourist attractions.

And the gorilla’s London adventure is not over – he will at The Destinations Travel Show at London Olympia from February 2 to February 5.

The Uganda Tourist Board is promoting awareness of the countries wildlife, seeing gorillas in the wild by recreating the experience in London.

Encountering Mountain Gorillas in the forests of Bwindi was voted the most desirable wildlife experience in Africa by UK travellers, but this endangered species is currently enjoying a baby boom with numbers now approaching 900.

Africa Destination Specialists Kamageo has been working with Uganda Tourism Board since May last year to promote tourism to Uganda in the UK market.
