Heavy snowfall grounds flights in Turkey

Heavy snowfalls forecast for Istanbul has forced Turkish Airlines to ground hundreds of flights.

The carrier has cancelled 327 flights at the city’s Sabiha Gokcen and Ataturk airports today and tomorrow due to expected snow levels across Istanbul.

Both international and domestic services are affected including European services to destinations such as Gatwick and Amsterdam.

Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines also cancelled 110 flights to and from Sabiha Gokcen airport due to bad weather conditions.

Other flights have also been affected as the two airports imposed flight restrictions ahead of deep snow expected from today.
