Air India to introduce female-only seating

Seats for women only are to be introduced by Air India following a spate of sexual harassment reports on the carrier’s flights.

Plastic handcuffs will also be issued to flight crew to restrain “totally out of control” passengers.

Six economy class seats will be solely dedicated to female travellers from January 18, The Independent reported.

“We feel, as national carriers, it is our responsibility to enhance comfort level to female passengers,” said Air India’s Meenakshi Mali.

“There are a lot of female passengers who travel alone with us and we will be blocking a few seats for them.”

No extra cost will be charged on the seats.
