Virgin launches switch-sell incentives

VIRGIN Atlantic is vying to snatch business away from British Airways through greater rewards for agents who switch-sell.

In a shake-up of its payment structure, the airline will retain a base commission of 7% for Economy, and introduce 5% for Premium Economy and 4% for Upper Class tickets.

But the main agent incentive in the scheme is the opportunity to tap into extra commission in exchange for guaranteeing the airline a greater market share or increased revenues.

UK general sales manager Paul Wait said: “We wanted to ensure those agents who distribute our tickets are paid for doing so, but, more importantly, we wanted to reward those agents who push our product.”
