Facebook users shun high-street travel agents, survey says

The overwhelming majority of Facebook users are snubbing traditional travel agencies to book their holiday online, according to a new poll.

Call centres rated even lower, with only 8% of respondents saying they book over the phone.

The survey of 1,000 Facebook users, conducted by price comparison website Hotel-fairy.com, found that:

  • 81% book their holiday online
  • 11% book at a high-street agent
  • 8% book over the phone

Hotels Fairy co-founder Tom Greenwood said: “Our surveys suggest people are turning their backs on high street travel agents in a big way.

“Trudging around travel agents can be very time-consuming. Booking online is so much more convenient and the sight of people sat in a shop with a travel agent for half an hour as they look for a deal is becoming rarer.”
