P&O Cruises adopts e-ticketing
P&O Cruises is the latest Complete Cruise Solution brand to move to an e-ticketing system, enabling agents or passengers to print their own cruise documents.
The change applies to all P&O Cruises departing from January 2010, except world cruises, tickets for which have already been sent out.
CCS sales and customer services director Giles Hawke said e-ticketing is more environmentally friendly and would reduce travel agents’ print and mailing costs. It also gives them more control over ticketing, he said.
Other CSS brands adopting e-ticketing include Cunard, which will move to an e-ticketing system for all cruises departing from April 2010, and Princess Cruises, which moved to e-ticketing in October 2009.
Hawke said: "Allowing customers more control over their booking will reduce the amount of administration carried out by agents, making them more efficient."
He expects most clients to print their own e-tickets, but said agents can provide the service for customers by logging into the CCS website.
A new e-ticketing section on the site will allow agents to see whether a client has viewed or retrieved their cruise documents, and download and print or email any outstanding tickets.
