Hoseasons reports 15% growth in sales for 2009

(17 November 2008)

Hoseasons remains confident that domestic holidays will prove popular next year after reporting a 15% increase in sales.

Chief executive Richard Carrick said the trend has proved particularly strong in the lodge, holiday park and boating sectors with bookings for some of the most popular product already being close to capacity for next summer.

He added: “Our most recent figures show that there is still an appetite for holidays in Britain, and that domestic tourism operators will be well placed to benefit from the slowing economy.

“Traditionally in times of economic uncertainty holidaymakers ‘hunker down’ and stay closer to home. We firmly expect to benefit from this trend and see more people choosing to pack up the car and take a carefully financially-managed break in the UK.

“That said, it doesn’t mean that as an industry we can sit back and rest on our laurels and, like any sector during a recession, there will be winners and losers.”
