Director of Freedom Flights (Newcastle) Stuart Ramage has urged the trade not to confuse his business with XL's Freedom Flights.
Freedom Flights (Newcastle) is a retail travel agency specialising in long-haul scheduled air fares.
It was established in 1987, employs three people and has a turnover in the region of £1 million.
Ramage said: "We at Freedom Flights (Newcastle) Ltd are a completely independent company trading for 20 years with no connection to XL in any way and as such are trading as normal."
