A Ryanair flight from Bristol to Barcelona Girona airport was forced to make an emergency landing in France last night.

The flight suffered a depressurisation while in flight and the captain was forced to divert to Limoges airport at 2330 French local time.

A statement from Ryanair confirmed the oxygen masks were deployed during the incident.  All 168 passengers disembarked safely, although 16 passengers complaining of ear ache have been transferred to a local hospital.

A replacement aircraft with crew transferred  127 of the passengers who wanted to continue with their journey to Barcelona Girona landing at 3.30am this morning. The remaining 18 passengers who chose not to fly along with the 16 passengers who were taken to hospital and five family members who accompanied them are expected to continue to Girona today by coach.

Ryanair engineers inspected the aircraft overnight and confirmed the oxygen masks were working correctly.

In a statement Ryanair said: "Ryanair will this morning be in contact with all the passengers on board the aircraft to communicate our sincere apologies for any distress or delay the passengers on board may have suffered due to this depressurisation incident."
