Nigel Harris joins Artemis Travel

(11 July 2008)

Former OVP Travel sales and operations director Nigel Harris has been appointed as business development director for Artemis Travel.

Harris left his role with OVP Travel last month and was forced to relinquish his position as chairman of the Truly Independent Professional Travel Organisation in the process.

Now, following his appointment with the self-catering specialist to Turkey, Harris will be looking to increase sales through the trade.

He said: “We believe agents will welcome the entry of Artemis on the market. Being outside the eurozone, Turkey is booming and our product offers enormous flexibility, which will be particularly welcome in a price-conscious market.

“Agents or clients can arrange their own flights to Turkey from regional airports around the UK and a unique feature of our product is that they can also add a bed breakfast or half-board option, using our on-site restaurants. This allows clients to more accurately budget for their holiday.”

Harris will start the process with an intensive programme of sales calls to agents and is also planning a series of educational visits later in the year.

He will also advise both on resort services in a number of the operator’s featured resorts and guest facilities for a five-star development Legends Cove which is being built by Artemis’ sister company Aegean Resorts and will open in 2012 in Turkey.
