Triton future to be revealed in weeks, says McEwan

(27 June 2008)

The future of Triton is be revealed in the next couple of weeks after a crunch meeting yesterday, Advantage managing director John McEwan has revealed.

Discussions at the Triton board meeting which was attended by McEwan, Triton director Andrew Botterill, Worldchoice membership director Helen Burgess, Worldchoice commercial director Bill Pickering and Advantage Travel centres chairman Steven Freudmann discussed the way forward for the super-consortium.

Triton dropped its status as a joint buying group, the core reason for its creation, in April this year.

McEwan told travelweekly.co.uk there was a constructive set of discussions on the future of Trition. He said: "We have got a little bit more work to do and we will be releasing information in the next couple of weeks."

Last week new Triton board member and Worldchoice commercial director Bill Pickering said it was crucial that members see "real value" in Triton. He said Triton would have to deliver more through providing new initiatives and a stronger voice for the independent agent.
