Singer and pianist Myleene Klass has been appointed godmother for the new superliner Carnival Splendor.
The former Hear'Say singer and TV presenter will attend the naming ceremony of the ship in Dover Cruise Port on July 10 when Nyetimber English Sparkling wine will be used instead of the traditional champagne.
At 113,000 tonnes and carrying 4,914 passengers, the ship will also be the largest ever to sail from the port.
Klass said: “I am very excited, and a little nervous, at becoming a ship’s godmother for the first time, especially when it involves naming a ship the size of the Carnival Splendor.
“My family is very connected with ships as my father served in the merchant navy.”
