Holiday shows are a hit for Thomas Cook agents in south Wales

(28 February 2008)

A group of Thomas Cook agencies in south Wales enjoyed bumper sales after joining forces to hold a weekend of travel shows for customers.

Following the merger of Thomas Cook and MyTravel last year, the 27 agencies in the region decided to let customers know what they now offer on the high street by holding two events, in Swansea and Cardiff.

Operators including Bourne Leisure, Keycamp, Island Cruises, Costa Cruises, Complete Cruise Solution, Flexible Trips, Sandals, Thomas Cook Signature and Tradewinds all showed their support by attending the event.

Thomas Cook Caerphilly, which is formerly a Going Places branch, said it made more than £30,000 worth of bookings over the weekend.

The branch’s acting manager Hayley Marshall, who helped to organise the event, said: “The Saturday was a bit quieter as Wales were playing in the rugby, but on the Sunday it was fantastic. So many people came in. We had some big cruise and tailor-made bookings and that was just our branch alone.”
