TUI Travel suffers share price drop

(11 January 2008)

TUI Travel suffered a significant fall on the London Stock Exchange on Wednesday before recovering slightly yesterday, with analysts blaming the fluctuations on trading by hedge funds.

Its value fell by 14% or 36p per share before recovering by almost 4p per share on Thursday and rising a further 5p this morning.

Shares in Thomas Cook have also been falling, with the stock market value of both companies close to the lowest they have been since listing on the market last year and joining the FTSE 100 list of leading companies on Christmas Eve.
