Hoseasons axes 14 jobs at Lowestoft headquarters

(22 November 2007)

Hoseasons has axed 14 jobs at its Lowestoft headquarters after it originally predicted as many as 30 jobs might go.

Following a month-long consultation, chief executive Richard Carrick said the number of compulsory redundancies made last week was more than halved as staff agreed to either take voluntary redundancy or work for less hours.

He added that the operator was forced to streamline its 300-strong workforce in response to changing booking patterns in the market which is leading to more sales being made on-line and warned other companies will need to do the same.

Carrick added: "We have worked hard to keep the number of compulsory redundancies to a minimum. Overall the numbers are considerably lower than we feared they could be. All travel businesses are going through this change at the moment."
