Fred Olsen Travel sees wedding business double

(19 October 2007)

Fred Olsen Travel has seen its weddings and honeymoon business increase after a concerted marketing drive over the last three months.

Group retail manager Louise Tweedy said since the launch of the drive it has employed three weddings and honeymoons specialists in its Felixstowe, Colchester and Ipswich branches.

The agency has advertised the service on its website as well as in its shop windows. The result of the marketing push saw this part of the business increase to 20% of its sales over the last three months up from 10%.

Tweedy said: "The website has remained non-bookable for the service as it's much nicer to talk to someone about such a big day."

Cosmos head of specialist product Mike Tyreman agreed the market has increased this year with the operator seeing a 15% growth in sales, largely driven by a 150% growth in sales to Sri Lanka, 88% growth in Kenya and a 20% increase to Mauritius.
