Crystal Cruises extends travel agent training programme to UK

(27 September 2007)

Luxury cruise operator Crystal Cruises is planning to launch an agent training programme and a dedicated website for the UK market to continue to drive traffic through the trade.

Next year's bookings are up 35% on this year's and the cruiseline is hoping to continue its push with the launch of Crystal Cruises Academy, which is live in the US.

Sales and marketing director Sophie Higgins said: "Our programme has been working in the US so it will be great to roll it out in the UK. It has needed a few tweaks for the UK trade."

The programme is open to all agents. "We would like to offer it to everyone who wants to sell us," said Higgins.

Higgins said that business through homeworking agents has increased this year, indicating this is an area Crystal Cruises can develop.

The online training tool will feature modules on the upmarket US operator but staff will continue to offer face-to-face training in shops and one-to-one training events.

The company is promoting a dedicated UK website that will go live in the next couple of weeks. For more information visit the US homepage, crystalcruises.com.
