European Tour Operators' Association recruits new member

(19 September 2007)

The European Tour Operators' Association has recruited a new member to continue its fight against restrictive European business practices.

Adam Buckmaster has been appointed European operations manager by the association and will focus on fighting excessive regulation and restrictive working practices, while liaising between ETOA members and European authorities.

Executive director Tom Jenkins said: "I am delighted Adam has come to work at ETOA. His training and experience will prove invaluable to those members who are involved in escorted tours.

"With changes in the law in Italy, and increasingly onerous working time regulations, we anticipate the processes involved in group tours are going to change. Adam will work closely with Tony John, who specialises in transportation, to help members find their way through the new legislative territory."

The move follows the change in Italian law earlier this year, which makes it easier for non-Italian guides to work in the country.
