Domestic holiday cancellations are 'nonsense' says Hoseasons - 30 Aug 2007

(30 August 2007)

Reports of tourists deserting their domestic holidays at the last minute because of the wet weather are "complete nonsense" according to tour operator Hoseasons.

Agents said some customers had not turned up for UK holidays because of wet weather.

But chief executive Richard Carrick said the only threat to UK holiday bookings this year had been during the floods in July, while this summer’s weather in general and the threat of a foot-and-mouth outbreak had failed to dent sales.

He said: "We’ve not had any customers not turn up for their holiday. We have sold as many holidays in August as we expected. It’s not been a boom or bad year."
