Cayman Islands launches online booking portal - 30 Jul 2007

(30 July 2007)

The Cayman Islands has launched an online booking portal following a deal with online media company Global Travel Market.

The site allows users to compare the prices of flights to the destination, along with hotels, tours and dive packages, before clicking through and booking with a supplier.

The Cayman Islands department of tourism UK regional manager Don McDougall said: "This is the ultimate tailor-made booking engine. The Cayman Islands is the first Caribbean destination to embrace the technology and make it available to customers and colleagues in the industry."

Global Travel Market has previously provided travel search engines for destinations including Queensland, the Philippines and Malaysia.

Chief executive Dave Simmons said: "Targeted metasearch engines are proving the most effective way of promoting a destination online. Our sites offer access to everything customers need for a trip abroad, and are a cost-effective distribution channel for suppliers."
