Luxury Africa supplement 2007

(14 June 2007)

Luxury in Africa isn't about gold taps - think wide open plains and sweeping vistasIn Africa, ‘luxury travel’ means something entirely different to anywhere else in the world.

Visitors to Africa are unlikely to find material luxury - there won't be gold taps in the bathroom or chandeliers in the hall, and no matter how much they’re paying they’ll probably find an insect in their bed at some point.

Luxury in Africa is sweeping vistas and wide open plains, it’s proximity to animals in the wild and steaming flasks of tea left outside your tent before dawn.

It’s colonial cities, rolling mist on mountain peaks and two oceans crashing on empty beaches. Africa is going upmarket and your clients will be treated like royalty.

But you’d best advise them to take it as they find it, to leave their ties and tiaras at home – and to let Africa do the dazzling.
