Abta is to hold an event at each of the UK's three key political party conferences this autumn.
Head of policy and communications David Marshall said a delegation would attend the Labour, Liberal Democrat and Tory conferences in Bournemouth, Brighton and Blackpool respectively and hold fringe meetings to discuss sustainable tourism.
He added: "We want to raise the profile of Abta within political circles and this will not only allow us to network with some of the key players politically but also allow us to get our message across."
But plans to set up a cross party working group in the Houses of Parliament to focus on travel issues has been halted pending Gordon Brown's succession to Tony Blair as Prime Minister on June 28.
He said: "Ministers don't know where they will be and nor do civil servants so it is on hold," said Marshall.
