The Association of Cruise Experts, formerly known as PSARA, is launching two training courses for its Elite Training Programme this autumn.

The customer services and marketing courses will take the total number on the programme to six. The others are understanding cruise, selling cruise, luxury, and niche cruising.

Andy Harmer is following the US Cruise Lines International Association model and launching short ‘bolt-on’ courses. Two will be introduced in October, with a further pair added each year.

Meanwhile, Harmer said the next Cruise Convention will be held in Southampton in either May or September and will run over three days instead of two, with the last day optional for agents.

He said: "We want to be somewhere different to allow agents to see a variety of ships they haven’t seen, but we will probably aim for a maximum of two in one day as it is easier for us to manage."

Harmer also wants to double agent numbers from this year’s 215.
