Careers and Training supplement 2006

(23 October 2006)

Congratulations!

By picking up this guide, you’re either thinking about, or have just embarked on, a career in one of the most exciting industries there is to work in.

It’s an exciting time to join. The travel business is changing and there are now job opportunities that simply weren’t available two or three years ago.

This supplement is a practical guide to how to get a job you’ll love in travel. It looks at some entry jobs, such as overseas repping or working as cabin crew, and then assesses how to move up the ladder, using case studies of people who’ve already done it.

We also talk to people who’ve made it in the business travel arena, the exciting world of the dotcoms and look at the growing army of homeworkers who make a tidy sum by selling travel without even leaving the house.

Travel is a people business and if you’ve got the right credentials, a positive attitude and good customer service skills, you’ve got a job for life. Happy hunting.
