Morocco supplement 2006

(05 October 2006)

IT GIVES me great pleasure to welcome you to the Moroccan National Tourist Office’s dedicated supplement, produced in association with Travel Weekly .

This publication has been carefully designed to help broaden your knowledge of Morocco as a popular tourist destination, and enable you to advise and sell it to your clients with much more confidence.

The supplement coincides with the MNTO’s online Morocco training programme, which was launched recently with the Travel Weekly Training Academy. This programme is intended to provide travel professionals with essential tools to make them Morocco experts.

Morocco is a fast-growing tourist destination, and in the first six months of 2006 the number of British holidaymakers reached 140,000 – an increase of 40% on the same period last year that shows the increase in business to Morocco.

Without a shadow of a doubt, these results could not be achieved without your help and I would like to take this opportunity to convey my sincere thanks to all of you who have contributed to this great performance from the UK.

We are counting on your continuous support to make Morocco’s ambitious plans come to fruition. These are just some of the targets we aim to achieve by 2010:

  • 10 million tourists – of which 700,000 will be from the UK
  • 10 billion of investment
  • Six new purpose-built resorts
  • 230,000 beds
  • 1.2 million jobs
  • 1,000 spend per average stay

So become a Morocco expert by joining Travel Weekly’s online training programme today – you could win a place on a fam trip to Morocco.

Director, UK and Eire
