TSSA bids to boost staff pay

(20 January 2005)

THE Transport Salaried Staff’s Association has called on First Choice Holidays to consider pay rises for shop staff after news that group chief executive Peter Long earned £1.43 million last year – a 23% increase.

Association development manager Jo Twite said she believed counter staff had made as much a donation to the company’s £98.3 million pre-tax profits as anyone else.

She hopes this will be recognised with a suitable increase for the staff working the shop floors, many of whom find themselves on the bottom end of the pay bracket.

First Choice was unable to comment.
