THE International Transport Workers Federation has launched a website today for Ryanair staff to vent their anger over employment conditions.
The organisation, an umbrella body for 604 trade unions in 137 countries, claims some Ryanair staff are afraid for their jobs if they try to assert their legal right to join a trade union.
Chief executive Michael O’Leary refuses to recognise a trade union for staff, and the ITF claims he tries to stop staff joining a union.
Earlier this year O’Leary resisted plans by pilots to join a union.
The site, www.ryan-be-fair.org allows staff to discuss employment issues with colleagues and be put in touch with trade unions.
ITF general secretary David Cockroft said: "We have been told staff are afraid to speak in some Ryanair workplaces.
"That stops now. If O’Leary won’t allow a forum where Ryanair workers can freely make up their own minds, then the ITF will."
