Lastminute restructure

(24 June 2004)

THE restructure of Lastminute.com into five divisions reflects the current scale of the company according to UK managing director Richard Bowden-Doyle.

The group has announced a new management structure which is divided into ‘categories’ of flights, hotels, holidays and dynamic packaging, lifestyle and car and ancillary products – as exclusively predicted by Travel Weekly (June 14).

"The business has reached a size and scale where it needed more senior management. It is just common sense to do it at this stage in the company's development," said Bowden-Doyle.

Group commerical director Andrew Windsor will continue to look at trade strategy, overseeing the development of Holiday Autos, Medhotels and OTC.

Former Holidayandmore.com general manager Carol Dray left to head up Lastminute's flight division earlier this month. Ex-Opodo boss Richard Hadfield will head up hotels while former OTC product and marketing director John Bevan will run holidays and dynamic packaging. Cars and ancillaries will be headed by Mat Hart, who retains his role as managing director Holiday Autos UK and Ireland. Lastminute's European MD for lifestyle Lopo Champalimaud will oversee the UK lifestyle category for the next few months.

Two new posts have also been created - consumer sales director and customer operations director – to work across all brands.

A replacement for Dray at Holidayandmore.com has yet to be announced.
